For nearly 15 years, Reviewed.com has put thousands of products to the test, all to help consumers buy, use, and understand electronics and appliances. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week.
Another week, another Amana fridge to win an editor’s choice award. Amana’s been bringing the heat to the cold appliance lineup lately. You’d be hard pressed to find another fridge that’s as good and as cheap as the A8TXNGFXW (MSRP $699). Despite some low-end design elements, consumers on a budget looking for a basic fridge should definitely check this out.
If you want a TV with killer audio and surprisingly deep black levels for a middle-of-the-road price, check out the Toshiba L4300U series (MSRP $549-$1,199). The overall picture quality is decent, and the design is sharper than many competing sets. The redesigned Cloud TV smart platform, however, is a disappointment—it could’ve helped this set stand out, but it’s just a drag. Still, this is a solid set for the money.
Meet the Samsung ATIVsmart PC Pro (MSRP $1,199), a Windows 8 Pro laptop/tablet hybrid from Samsung. These new hybrids could eventually sing the song that ends the world of desktop computing, but they’ve got a long ways to go before that happens. This particular model is too limited in too many ways and costs too much to appeal to many users.
Looking to increase their presence in the persisting market for DJ-style headphones, Audio-Technica is hoping their ATH-PRO700MK2 headphones (MSRP $229) will make a strong case to consumers to rattle their skulls with very bass-heavy sound. More importantly, these cans are built like a tank, and can take whatever you dish out.
