Rayman Legends is another 2D offering in the Rayman franchise, with familiar gameplay and an interesting co-op twist. Player 1 controls Rayman, whose gameplay is reminiscent of the classic action platformer style of Rayman Origins. Player 2, however, uses the Wii U controller to control certain world elements, allowing him or her to open up different areas, uncover secrets, and change the game world to allow Rayman to progress.
The gameplay in Rayman Legends seems varied between segments where Player 1 does their thing as Rayman, allowing Player 2 to either poke around for secrets, indirectly defeat or weaken enemies, or manipulate the world to allow Rayman to progress. The latter task creates a back-and-forth style of gameplay, which isn't the best for maintaining the flow of gameplay.
All in all, Rayman Legends looks like a promising title. While our demo was short, it offered some glimpses into how the Wii U controller could make for some clever puzzles or interesting gameplay.
