New Reviewed.com Features

We rolled out some new features today on Reviewed.com. Nothing too major, but it seems like a good excuse to blog.

• Reviewed.com Network Bar - You'll notice on every page of Reviewed.com a thin bar at the top of the page with links to all our ____info.com publications. It's a rainbow of gadget criticism!
• More Filters on Category Pages - Up until now you were only able to filter the products listed in categories by manufacturer, price and type (usually something like format such as LCD or Plasma in TVs).We've added filters to all the categories specific to the category. So now you can filter TVs by size (better than before)  and number of HDMI ports. Or you can filter camcorders by HD or not. It's all AJAXy so you don't have to reload the page.
• In-Line Custom Ratings Interactive Buyers Guide - The custom ratings engine now works on every category page without leaving it. We have been beta testing this feature somewhat hidden on the site until now. Depending on the category, you answer 4-8 questions about what you want to use a gadget for. The system then reweighs our ratings based on your answers. This is the feature I'm obsessed with because it makes the amazing in-depth multi-dimensional analysis and scientific testing that the Reviewed.com Editorial team does interactive. Other versions of interview based product recommendation engines depend solely on specs. We have hands on analysis on dozens or hundreds of areas for each product which our ratings wizard uses each of these individual points to adjust the product rankings instead of just manufacturer reported specifications.

We're working on other neat features for Reviewed.com and loading a lot more data into each product. I'll try to post updates every few weeks when we roll out new features. Of course, the editors are reviewing hundreds of products in the labs as well which is providing even more great content for the publication.
