UPDATE: Our original deal on the Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 has sold out. We've updated this page using the Lasergrip 774, which is nearly 50% off today.

Once in awhile, the stars align and we see a great deal on a product we adore.

Before discovering its uses in the kitchen, Reviewed bought its own Etekcity Lasergrip infrared thermometer for use in our testing facility. It came in handy for measuring hot dryers or washing machines, and the integrated visible red laser made it easy to aim the thermometer accurately. So how does this translate to the kitchen? Let us count the ways....

Simmering. Holding a steady simmer can be tricky, but it's just a matter of keeping your liquid between 185° and 205°F. This thermometer eliminates the guesswork. • Frying. Without counter space for an automatic fryer, at-home deep frying has to happen in a saucepan. And if you're wondering why your oil is smoking, yet your clip-on thermometer still reads just 350°F, then the Lasergrip would like to have a word with you about hotspots. • Searing meat or toasting spices. "Heat an ungreased pan until its surface temperature reaches 300°F," reads your recipe. Okay but how, pray tell, am I supposed to know the exact temperature of my pan? Infrared thermometer. (Actually, a cheap instant-read thermometer would work here as well.)

We could go on, but suffice to say at just $17.88 today, this tool will pay for itself many times over. We love it.
