A French startup called Kolibree brought the world's first smart electric toothbrush to CES 2014. Sleek and fashionable, the electric toothbrush's main selling point is its ability to track just how clean you're getting your teeth—or whether your kids are actually brushing the way they should be.

For folks who really want to take tooth health to another level, you can even bring in the app and show your dentist just how well (or how poorly) you're brushing.

Simply download the app onto your smartphone, pair the toothbrush to your device using its built-in Bluetooth connection, and start brushing. The app will record everything else, including the amount of time spent brushing, how rigorous the strokes are, how effectively you reached each tooth, and even how well you cleaned your gums.

What's more, the app adds some competition into the mix, challenging you to improve the next time you whip out the toothpaste for your next cleaning session.

A Kickstarter campaign got things going, with Kolibree shooting for a release date some time in the third quarter of this year—just in time for the next holiday season. Multiple models will be available, with prices ranging from $100 to $200.
