Summary of Other Reviews for the Acer Aspire X3200

The Acer Aspire X3200 is a budget entertainment computer system that draws it juice from an energy-saving AMD Phenom X4 9100e quad core processor, which runs at 1.8GHz with 2MB of L2 cache. Measuring about 10.2 inches tall by 14.4 inches long by 4 inches wide, the system ships with 4GB of memory, and 64-bit Windows Vista. The system maybe be compact in size however that doesn’t mean Acer has skimped on the features as it includes a dual-layer DVD burner, a media card reader, one FireWire 400 port, and nine USB 2.0 ports.

Good

Rich Brown from Cnet reviewed the Acer Aspire X3200 and gave it an impressive 4-½ stars out of 5. The X3200’s small size is ideal for those who don’t want their room to be dominated by a big bulky computer. While it’s not a bonafied livingroom PC, those in the market for a low-cost mini PC will appreciate the X3200. The X3200’s compact size factor  doesn't automatically translate to less ports as apart from the nine USB 2.0 ports and the headphone, microphone, and eSATA ports, the system also includes a HDMI output. When compared to Dell Inspiron 530s, the Acer Aspire X3200 performed better in Cnet's multitasking and Cinebench multi CPU tests. Also the X3200’s versatile feature set gave it an edge over the competition.

Bad

The X3200 is not a full-fledged living-room system. The compact desktop system is not suitable for gaming either. Cnet also found the Acer Empowering Technology drop-down menu and the icon clutter on the Windows desktop quite annoying. The slim tower PC may have been designed to fit anywhere however because of the compact size, there is less upgrade room, with no free hard-drive bays and only one free half-height graphics card slot.

Bottom Line

Those who are looking for a multi-tasking and gaming behemoth should stay away from the Acer Aspire X3200. However when compared to other slim tower PCs, the X3200 is not only cheaper but also a better performer. Thanks to its wide array of inputs and outputs, Cnet feels that the system is ideal for the multitasker on a budget.
