The device boasts of a solid feature set that includes; integrated Bluetooth, a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, SD expansion slot and a mini USB port. Good
The Garmin Nuvi 660 fared well in all the majority of reviews thanks to its solid performance and comprehensive feature set. Bonnie Cha from Cnet took the device on a test-drive in San Francisco and as expected it performed quite well since directions were accurate and the multimedia experience satisfactory. The publication GPS Magazine whose analysis was extremely in-depth also gave the device a thumbs up as they were impressed by the on board SiRF StarIII GPS receiver. Additional factors which worked in favor of the device, are its user-friendly interface, its effective integrated Bluetooth feature and its impressive touchscreen (PC Mag, GPS Lodge, GPS Tracklog, Uber Gizmo). Both Cnet and PC Mag compare the unit to the 350 and the nüvi 360 and are of the opinion that the 660 can hold its own against them thanks to its stellar performance and multimedia features that further enhance the user experience. The device is also capable of accurate real-time traffic updates without one needing to invest in further software or hardware (GPS Magazine).
Bad
The Garmin Nuvi 660 lacks external volume controls and is expensive when compared to other popular models like the HP iPaq rx5900 series or the Garmin Nuvi 350 (Cnet, GPS Lodge, GPS Magazine). GPS Magazine observes that there are times when the system slows down and takes time to reroute. The device also lacks a multi-destination routing feature and a MapSource map DVD (GPS Magazine, GPS Information).
Bottom Line
It goes without saying that the Garmin Nuvi 660 is a solid performer and apart from offering navigation basics also has a decent multimedia feature set (Cnet, Uber Gizmo, GPS Magazine). PC Mag and GPS Information calls it the best GPS in its category and GPS Tracklog also recommends the device.
