Bosch issued a recall of its Tassimo coffee brewers on Feb. 9 after 140 reported incidents involving Tassimo coffee brewers spraying hot liquid onto customers.

Bosch called back all of its coffee brewers sold from June 2008 through February 2012 that cost between $100 and $250. The recall included all brewers released during this time period with “Bosch” or “Tassimo” printed on the front of the brewer and “Tassimo Professional”, which is its professional model only sold in black.

The stem of customer injuries is when the T-Disc, the plastic disc that holds the coffee or tea, bursts and spews out liquid. There were 37 cases of second-degree burns, the most serious being the burns suffered by 10-year-old Minnesota girl on her face and neck due to a brewer’s faulty spray, which required a hospital visit.

Customers can find the model number and date code at the bottom of their brewer to determine if it was recalled. Recalls include brewers that start with TAS100, TAS200, TAS451, TAS46, TAS651, and TAS6512CUL (Tassimo’s professional brewer). If eligible, customers can use Tassimo’s online recall center to order a free replacement T Disc holder.
