These Ice Cubes Are Too Beautiful For Your Whiskey

Your move, hipster ice-makers: Last year, Suntory Whisky took advantage of 3D printing (of a sort) to take artisan ice to a whole new level.

AdWeek reports that Japanese ad agency TBWA\Hakuhodo created the ephemeral works of art using a machine called a CNC router, which uses a process akin to "reverse 3D printing." The ad campaign is aptly named "3D on the Rocks."

In typical advertising fashion, each ice cube was splashed with Suntory Whisky to polish the ice to a smooth, glistening finish. Each cube is carved to an impressive level of detail and showcases either a major work of art or cultural icon.

The campaign included ice cubes representing a Japanese temple, Michelangelo's David, a Macintosh computer, the Statue of Liberty, Godzilla, and more. It's just too bad these artsy rocks can't last. But then again, what does?
