Freedom of the Seas Cruise Review

The Freedom of the Seas received a bundle of upgrades in 2011, including a 3D movie theater, and a nursery.

Cabin Layout

The Inside Stateroom was our cabin during the voyage, so it’s the only room for which we have first-hand experience.

Upon entering the cabin, you'll find a closet on the right and the bathroom on the left. Inconveniently, the light switch for the bathroom is outside and on the left side of the door, even though the door opens to the left. The bedroom and living room areas are separated by a curtain, and the door to the cabin opens to the inside.

Bedroom

In the bedroom (behind a set of curtains) is a king size bed, which actually consists of two single beds that can be pulled apart if desired. Next to the bed are two night stands with drawers and a phone is placed on one of them. Above the headboard is a mirror, which makes the room look larger. With the curtain, the bedroom and living room areas can be conveniently separated.

Being an inside cabin, it isn't likely for anyone to spend too much time in this room. Still, everybody likes a nice and clean place to sleep, which was not always the case with our room. On embarkation day, the room was dusty and a noticeable amount of dirt was on the floor. Some of the pillow cases didn't look very clean either, and one of our pillow cases had a footprint on it.

Bathroom

The bathroom is small and offers just enough space for two people. It features a large mirror with storage space that should accommodate all the toiletries one might have. As with the bedding, the towels were not always the cleanest, but there were two towels on the racks upon arrival. Like most cruise lines and hotels, you only get a new towel if you leave a dirty one on the floor.

Other Rooms

In the living room area is a desk, couch, coffee table, and television. The couch in our cabin could not be converted into a bed. On both sides of the desk are four drawers, and above the desk is a huge mirror with shelves on either side. The large mirror above the desk, accompanied with an additional mirror by the couch, make the living room look larger than it actually is.

Closets & Storage

There is one closet in the room, but it is large enough for two or three people's belongings. Unfortunately, the closet doesn't have enough shelves for storage, especially since life vests are stored on the limited shelf space that is available. The shelf is made of cheap plastic and has wide gaps, so it isn't a good spot to store smaller items. There is also no cabinet with storage space, but there are a number of drawers scattered throughout the room. The closet does come with an abundance of hangers, so at least your clothes can be put away instead of living out of your bag.
