Mother’s Day is just around the corner (it’s this Sunday for those of us who haven’t looked at a calendar in a while). And even if you can’t spend the day with your mom because of social distancing measures, you can still send her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to show her how much you care. I mean, who wouldn’t love flowers to brighten up their home right now?
While you could pick up flowers at your grocery store, online flower delivery services (many of which connect with local florists) are an easy and safe way to ensure the woman who gave you life actually gets her flowers in time. Below, you’ll find 10 highly-rated flower services that should be delivered by Mother’s Day this year.
Our favorite: Love and Affection Bouquet—$69.99
This massive flower site has been around for years and is probably what you think of when you hear flower delivery service. Not only does it have a ton of Mother’s Day bouquets to choose from, but it also sells gifts like chocolates and teddy bears that moms will find especially sweet. Plus, we found that the 1-800-Flowers delivers quality bouquets in a timely manner after testing the service ourselves.
We found that the flowers on the site delivered by local florists were far superior over the ones that come in a gift box. Those that arrive via florist are nicely arranged and lasted longer compared to those that came in a box, which you’ll need to clip, feed, and place in a vase—and who wants to put Mom through that? Plus, with a huge selection, you’ll be able to pick the perfect bouquet that your mom will love.
2. The Sill
Our favorite: Red Anthurium—$65
If you’re looking for something less traditional and will last longer than a week or so, try ordering potted flowers from The Sill. The site currently has a Mother’s Day page featuring a ton of curated flowers and houseplants. Note that some of the more popular plants have a waitlist, so you’ll want to pick flowers that are currently available to ensure they arrive on time.
One of our editors bought a houseplant from The Sill and absolutely loved the plant delivery service. She appreciated how well and safely her ZZ plant was packaged and that it came with care instructions, so her plant is still thriving. You can expect whichever plant you choose for Mom to arrive in tact.
Our favorite: Mother's Day Roses—$69
Bouqs boasts a selection of farm-fresh, eco-friendly flowers with information of the farm your bouquet comes from with each purchase. It sells individual bouquets, but the site offers a flower subscription service (which would also make a great ongoing gift) that gives you 30% off your first bouquet. One of my coworkers used to receive monthly flowers from the service and they always arrived vibrant, well-packaged, and healthy—a.k.a. everything your mom wants from her bouquet.
Our favorite: Sweet Enchantment—$49.99
While BloomsyBox is technically another flower subscription service, you can still buy a one-off bouquet for the site for Mother’s Day. The flowers are also all locally sourced and offer an array of bouquets featuring flowers that are in season. When we tested BloomsyBox, we were impressed by their vibrant flowers that arrived on time and lasted for about two weeks. While we haven’t received any of the individual bouquets, if they’re anything like the subscription, your mom will be wowed.
Aside from ordering your household essentials, you can order your mom a bouquet of flowers from a local florist at Amazon. The massive retailer has a specific page devoted to fresh cut flowers and you can choose your mom’s favorite flower with selections of roses, carnations, mixed bouquets, and more. Because these flowers come from different florists, you’re going to have to read the fine print for each bouquet to make sure they’ll arrive on time.
6. FTD Flowers
Our favorite: Simply Gorgeous Bouquet—$80
FTD Flowers connects you to local florists and is filled with gorgeous bouquets that any mom would love. Currently the site offers everything from bouquets to chocolate to potted plants, so you have a bunch of options to choose from. FTD bouquets are also arranged by local florists, so they come pre-arranged and get delivered by hand, which will give your mom a magical flower-receiving experience.
7. Urban Stems
Our favorite: The Femme—$55
We are currently in the process of testing Urban Stems and have had a good experience thus far. The flowers are arranged in-house and sourced from local farms, so a pre-arranged bouquet will be sent to Mom—meaning no fuss. Vases can be ordered along with bouquets, but note that they’re delivered separately. Even better, there are no hidden fees when ordering and the site currently has a wide array of Mother’s Day-themed bouquets to choose from.
Our favorite: Teleflora's Heart Stone Bouquet—$64.99
Teleflora has a ton of options to choose from, and each bouquet is arranged by a local florist and will be hand-delivered to Mom on the desired date. Alongside its gorgeous arrangements, Teleflora offers unique, handmade vases and pots that make the bouquet extra special. If you’re looking to save on flowers, Teleflora also runs a Deal of the Day featuring a different discounted arrangement each day.
9. From You Flowers
Our favorite: One Dozen Rainbow Roses—$34.99
From You Flowers is quite popular for flower delivery, and it sells its highly-rated bouquets on Amazon. Aside from dozens of bouquets to choose from, there are flower plants like orchids, hydrangeas, and anthuriums to choose from. Even better, flowers can be delivered within four hours of ordering, and you can get the arrangement delivered in vases or choose add-ons like chocolates and stuffed animals.
10. Lula’s Garden
Our favorite: Live Succulent Plant Centerpiece—$52
If your mom can’t be bothered to tend to a bouquet of flowers, get her a cactus instead. They’re nearly impossible to kill, and will last much longer than a traditional floral arrangement. Lula’s Garden has a shop on Amazon and will ship a variety of succulent gift boxes for Mother’s Day. Honestly, it’s an unique change that will still show Mom how much you care.
