TCL has debuted new "5" and "6" series TVs during CES in Las Vegas. While differently named, these are spiritual successors to last year's "S" and "P" Series TCL TVs, both of which took awards for their high value and impressive TV technology.

The TCL 6 Series will be available in 55- and 65-inch sizes, both featuring the lauded full-array local dimming LED technology (with 96 zones for the 55-inch, 120 zones for the 65-inch). These TVs boast 4K resolution, HDR and Dolby Vision compatibility, and (like last year's P Series) have the Roku platform built right in, with an accompanying Roku remote.

While pricing hasn't been confirmed, last year's 55-inch went for a very value-friendly $650, so we'd expect a similar pricing scheme for the new 6 Series. Both models will be available in the spring.

The 5 Series looks to be TCL's version of last year's "S" series. It'll be available in 43, 49, 55, and 65 inch versions and, like the 6 Series, boast 4K resolution, HDR/Dolby Vision compatibility, and the Roku smart platform built in.

TCL's announcement makes no mention of local dimming, do we expect the 5 Series TVs to be edge-lit LED models. Pricing also hasn't been confirmed, but we'd wager these TVs will be priced very competitively, if TCL's track record is anything to go by. It's worth noting that the 65- and 55-inch models use 120 Hz native refresh rate panels, while the smaller sizes have 60 Hz refresh rates.

Check back later this week for much more in-depth and hands-on coverage of these new TCL TVs.
