The Weekly TV Roundup: July 5

Only got a Minute, Man? Check out our weekly TV roundup–independence puns and all.

Recommendations are independently chosen by Reviewed's editors. Purchases made through the links below may earn us and our publishing partners a commission.

Prepare for a barrage of references to America's independence applied liberally to television reviews and features. Oh, say can you read our reviews of Samsung's low-end F4000 and the Westinghouse CW46T9FW? Why not check out our deals roundup saluting some holiday savings?

Samsung UN29F4000 Review

This 29-inch television is smaller than a purple mountain or a fruit-ed plain, and is in no way beautiful.

You shouldn't plan on watching that Blu-ray set of John Adams, either–the F4000 caps off at a resolution of 720p. Despite being a pricier low-end TV, it manages above average motion performance. "At $270, you're still paying more than you would for a similarly sized TV or monitor from another manufacturer, but the F4000 has the performance chops to make plenty of content look good."

Westinghouse CW46T9FW

Who could be more American than famous entrepreneur George Westinghouse?

The 46-inch CW46T9FW from Westinghouse has a price point that's tough to justify ($549.99 MSRP). It's marred by the usual "budget TV" problems: bad color accuracy and shoddy motion performance. This television puts out some quality audio and decent contrast levels, but these pros aren't enough. "We could still offer a recommendation if the price was right, but noticeable motion judder is a deal-breaker. If you need a bargain 46-inch TV, check out the TCL LE48FHDF3300ZTA or even the RCA LED46C55R120Q instead."

Independence Day 2013 Television Deal Guide

Much like America, these deals don't run... for very long. We've rounded up some great weekend deals on cheap TVs from Dell's website and Best Buy. Take a few hundred dollars off the LG LN5300, take even more off the Insignia L260A13, or splurge on a Samsung F7500 with a free sound bar system. Pick one of these TVs up, sit down, John, and celebrate by watching 1776.
