Home cooked meals are fantastic for saving money, eating healthier, and enjoying your favorite foods exactly how you like them. And a big part of creating a tasty recipe is in how you prepare the ingredients. Mincing, slicing, dicing, chopping, julienning, you name it... Trying to do any of that with a dull, flimsy, clunky knife is going to be a hassle.
Cooking should be fun, and having the right kitchen tools can go a long way—it all starts with a good knife. We recently had a trained chef test 15 different knives to find out which really were the best, and our pick for the Best Value just went on sale.
The Victorinox Fibrox Pro 8-Inch Chef's Knife, which is also the #1 best-selling chef's knife on Amazon, used to cost anywhere from $40-$50. But Amazon just dropped the price down to $34.95, the lowest we could find from any online retailer right now. To put it into perspective, the chef's knife that won the title of Best Overall in our tests costs around $140. This knife, already a bargain compared to the Zwilling, doesn't go on sale all that often, and this is the lowest price we've seen it drop to since February.
What stands out with this stainless steel knife is its light weight, which makes it incredibly comfortable and easy to handle. The control it provides with slicing, rocking, and chopping is also a big perk, especially because it's as sharp as the other more expensive blades we tested. It's worth noting that the blade is connected to the handle rather than running all the way through like you'd find with higher-end knives.
