Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be some of the biggest shopping days of the year, but if you still haven’t gotten all of your gifts yet, don’t worry. You can still save money and get your gifts on time thanks to Free Shipping Day. Yes, another retail driven holiday!
If you haven’t heard of Free Shipping Day, it’s one of your last chances to save big on presents and items on your own wishlist (hey, we don’t judge) with both big and small retailers offering free shipping as well as some discounts. Here’s what you need to know about Free Shipping Day 2018.
Free Shipping Day typically falls on a Friday around two weeks before Christmas. This year it’s Friday, December 14.
This national shopping "holiday" started in 2008 as one last shopping push during the holidays. Participating retailers originally would offer free shipping with no minimum order and guaranteed delivery by Christmas Day. FreeShippingDay.com used to be the go-to resource to learn which retailers were participating, but it looks like they are not running the show this year. However, you should definitely check your favorite retail sites on Friday, as more than 1,000 retailers are still expected to participate this year, according to the site.
Although many of us may be used to fast and free shipping thanks to Amazon Prime, there are loads of retailers big and small that participate in this holiday, even if they typically charge for shipping. But we also expect shipping policies may vary depending on where you are shopping. Some retailers may require a minimum purchase amount, while others may only offer free shipping on select items.
There are literally too many retailers to list every single one. But most of the big names will be participating including Amazon, Target, Nordstrom, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, The Gap, Best Buy, Harry & David, JC Penney, Sur La Table, and many more.
If you simply cannot wait for Free Shipping Day, a few retailers are already offering free shipping. For instance, Amazon is offering free two-day shipping to everyone, even if you don't have a Prime membership, now through Friday. Target is also offering free shipping through Dec. 22, and Best Buy is offering free shipping until Dec. 18.
In addition to offering free shipping, many participating brands will likely also run sales and deals that day to encourage shoppers to buy even more. We don't have all the details yet on who will be running which sales, but we are prepped and ready to hunt them down and share our findings with you come Friday.
