Panasonic has debuted two new 4K/HDR OLED TV series: the FZ950 and FZ800, which will both be available in 55- and 65-inch sizes. The new OLED series won't replace the company's EZ1000 flagship OLED, but stand in as (probably) more affordable and accessible options for consumers in the coming year.

Like every OLED on the market last year and this year, the panels for Panasonic's new OLEDs are provided by LG Display, currently the only manufacturer of OLED panels. Where the FZ OLEDs will differ is in design, smart features, and internal video rendering and processing.

To ensure that its OLED TVs are the highest quality, Panasonic has stated plans to continue working with a Hollywood-based colorimetry company, allowing under-the-hood style tuning of the TV performance to ensure the highest caliber of quality and accuracy. To me, that sounds like it's going to fetch a high price, but pricing has yet to be confirmed.

For the in-the-know videophile crowd, Panasonic has also affirmed that both the FZ950 and FZ800 TVs will support the newer HDR10+ video format, which allows for dynamic metadata adjustment during HDR much like the proprietary Dolby Vision format. However, the TVs will not, as of the announcement, support Dolby Vision.

I'm hoping to go hands-on with one or both TVs once the CES show floor opens in official capacity on Tuesday.
