As impressed as we are with its performance, we should note that the A9 Kompressor is extremely expensive. In this case, you’re definitely getting what you pay for.

After all our testing, LG’s A9 Kompressor is one of the best cordless vacuum cleaners on the market.

What we like

The A9 Kompressor offers lots of battery life

Battery life is the greatest limiting factor of any cordless device. The A9 Kompressor comes with two 25.2-volt batteries.

For context, most cordless vacuums give you about 10 minutes on high and 20 minutes on low. However, we found that with the power brush head attached and set to Turbo, each battery gives you about eight minutes of cleaning. On the lowest setting, you get about 42 minutes of battery life. Since the CordZero comes with two batteries, all its stats are twice as nice, meaning it cleans for longer than most of its competition.

These results impressed us. Imagine cleaning your house. If you spend 30 minutes cleaning your carpets and another 10 on spills and dust bunnies, then the A9 Kompressor will never run out of power on you.

It comes with a stand of its own

You may have seen ads for cordless vacuums that hang and charge on docks you drill into the wall. This method is convenient if you have a utility closet, but not everyone does, or wants to drill into their wall for that matter.

If you want the option to change where you charge your cordless vacuum or just don’t want to explain to your landlord why you’re drilling holes in the walls, LG has a solution.

The A9 Kompressor comes with an easy-to-assemble stand that lets you charge and store attachments. The whole thing tips the scales at around five pounds, so it’s fairly easy to move.

The Kompressor compresses dust and dirt

Two major complaints we hear about cordless vacuums are that 1) they fill up too fast, and 2) they spill dirt everywhere when you empty them.

The A9 Kompressor features a lever that you press down, which in turn presses down on the dirt and dust inside to compress it into a more solid block. We also found that it helps ensure that clumps of dust don’t get stuck inside the bin.

It's really expensive

At the time of reviewing, LG’s A9 Kompressor costs $700. Considering that there are more expensive cordless vacuums on the market that don’t perform as well, and this one outperformed all the others we’ve tested in the past, you can consider a purchase of the A9 Kompressor a solid investment.

After putting this vacuum through its paces in our lab, we think it can be your one and only carpet and upholstery cleaner. With that said, if you like having both a full-sized and a cordless vacuum at home, then we feel you won’t get your money’s worth of use out of the A9 Kompressor.

Dyson still has the edge

Our cleaning tests use sand, pet hair, and uncooked macaroni. The CordZero picked up 90% of all the detritus we laid out in a single pass. To put that in perspective, the average cordless we tested picks up around 52%.

However, as great as the A9 Kompressor’s performance numbers are, they aren’t enough to bump Dyson’s V11 performance—picking up 95% of the testing detritus—down to second place.
