If you've made a New Year's resolution to keep your home cleaner and do your chores more often, a good vacuum will help you achieve your goals. Even if you're not the resolution type, but enjoy the feeling of a clean house, this is a great time to invest in a solid vacuum.
Dyson is know for its innovative technology, especially when it comes to vacuums, and right now one of its most powerful vacuums is on sale for the lowest price we've ever seen. The Cinetic Big Ball is the best bagless canister vacuum we've ever tested, and it usually costs $500 to bring it home. But it's currently selling for $300 on Amazon. Until now, the lowest price we've seen was $425, making this one heck of a good deal.
What you'll love about it
Large vacuums are wonderful, but they can be cumbersome, tipping over when you tug a little too hard to reach that corner. Dyson solved all of that with the design of this machine. If and when it does tip over, it will pick itself back up. Our reviewer compared it to a Weeble wobble. That same design also makes it really easy to maneuver around the house.
It also comes with an assortment of attachments (of course), but what we love about them is that they click securely into place. And there's room enough to keep two attachments on the vacuum for ease of use. When ypou're done, simply detach the canister and dump it out over a trash can. We found the Big Ball works really well on both short- and high-pile carpet, even outperforming every other canister vacuum in the high-pile test.
What might be a deal-breaker
This vacuum, despite its power and self-righting design, does fall short in a few places. Most prominently, it was not the best at picking up dirt and debris from hardwood floors. We found that the brush heads spin so fast, on hard surfaces they end up sending the dirt flying away instead of sucking it up. So if your home is mainly carpet-free, this probably isn't the vacuum for you. But, if you've got more carpet than not, you'll like this one.
