We know people want their smart devices to do more. But when we think about which devices they mean, it's usually smartphones and computers. So how would you react to a smart... air treatment system?

This is the Air Cube. We don't know why it's shaped like a cylinder. View Larger

Haier is bringing their Air Cube to the United States. This small appliance combines a dehumidifier, humidifier, air purifier, and an aromatherapy machine into one. It's designed to be modular, so you'll assemble the device like Lego blocks–stacking sections on top of each other. Each one can be powered on or off individually.

The Air Cube's best feature is its design. If you bought a humidifier and air purifier separately, they'd take up too much space, and clash since they're designed to perform opposite functions. With Haier's system, there's a unified look, and the stacked arrangement conserves floor space.

The biggest problem we can see? It's... not a cube. The modules are cylindrical. "Air Column" has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
