Oculus continues to improve upon its Rift concept, inching ever closer to virtual reality perfection.
One of Kickstarter's most famous success stories, Oculus Rift is a set of virtual reality goggles that uses high-quality displays and head-tracking tech to create an incredibly immersive experience.
Imagine playing Gran Turismo, glancing to the left, and seeing your competitor pulling up alongside. Oculus Rift makes that happen, and it feels real. This isn't just about looking around 360 degrees—you can also lean in to zoom in on the in-game environment. The newest Rift prototype fully tracks all of your head and upper body motions, no matter how small. It's VR, the way it was promised back in the early 1990s.
What we're most excited about is how Oculus might develop going forward. The company has created partnerships with various game designers and hardware manufacturers, meaning plenty of games and video cards are being created with Rift compatibility in mind. The future can't get here soon enough.
