Skimming your pool surface used to mean fishing leaves out with a net every morning. We spent two months testing the Betta SE Solar Powered Pool Skimmer to see whether the latest version of the well-known robotic skimmer actually delivers on its promise of 24/7 hands-off cleaning.
About the Betta SE Solar Powered Pool Skimmer
The 2023 Betta SE is a solar-charged robotic skimmer with twin salt-chlorine-tolerant motors and a battery backup that keeps it working through the night. It floats on the surface and collects leaves, pollen, and debris into a removable basket.

What we like about it
After eight weeks in a 16-by-32-foot in-ground saltwater pool, the Betta SE was still going through its daily skim-and-charge cycle without any issues. The twin motors handle heavier debris than older single-motor skimmers we’ve tested, and the salt-chlorine resistance means we haven’t seen any corrosion.

Twin motors and salt-chlorine tolerance
The dual propeller motors are the headline mechanical upgrade. Side-by-side with last year’s single-motor model, the SE skims a 16-by-32-foot pool measurably faster, and after two months in a saltwater pool we haven’t seen any corrosion on the housings.

What could be better
The Betta SE sits at the top of the robotic-skimmer price range, and the solar panel needs reasonably clear access to the sky — if your pool is heavily shaded, you’ll want to consider that before buying.
Should you buy the Betta SE Pool Skimmer?
If you have a salt pool with reasonable sun exposure and you’re tired of manual skimming, the Betta SE is the strongest hands-off option we’ve tested in 2026.
