November 16, 2005 - The big news in Canada today is the successful rescue attempt of Misty, a cat belonging to Reg MacDonald of Moncton, New Brunswick, which had gotten trapped behind some drywall during a home renovation project. Local firefighters used a new thermal camera that the department had recently acquired and learned how to operate to locate the cat’s heat source behind a wall prior to chipping a hole and permitting the cat to escape.

According to CBC News, "[Deputy Chief Don] McCabe says the rescue shows firefighters that even the tiniest victims can be helped by the new technology."
