Fujifilm has announced today yet another fast prime lens for the company's X-series compact system cameras, unveiling the XF23mm f/1.4 R.

The XF23mm f/1.4 is a premium fixed-focal length lens that offers a 35mm equivalent of, well, 35mm. That gives Fuji shooters a nice, fast walkaround lens that can handle most shooting situations, slotting in between the 18mm f/2.0 and 27mm f/2.8 pancake lenses already on the market.

The lens is compact and light, tipping the scales at just 10.6 ounces and measuring only 2.48 inches. Inside you'll find one single lens group, with three cemented lens elements and one piece of aspherical glass. The lens also has a 7-bladed aperture and an internal DC coreless motor, for smooth bokeh and quick focus.

Like most other XF-series lenses, the XF23mm seems to be made of higher-quality stuff than many other mirrorless system lenses. The aperture ring and depth of field scale in particular are especially nice touches—things you don't typically get from Micro Four Thirds or Sony NEX glass.

The XF23mm f/1.4 R is slated to be released this October, with a suggested retail price of $899.95. And given the way other Fujifilm X-mount gear has sold, we expect it'll hang onto that price for some time to come.
