Operation Photo Extends Drive to July

May 2, 2005— To provide separated families of the United States military with digital cameras to capture everyday events and occurrences that the soldiers and their family members cannot witness together, "Operation Photo" will extended their deadline to July as an attempt to reach their initial goal of 10,000 cameras.****

Despite a fade in momentum, "Operation Photo" co-founder Mitch Goldstone, CEO of 30 Minute Photos Etc. is keeping the drive for older digital cameras and accessories alive until the summer. The extension will help grant additional families the opportunity for long distance visual communication, as Goldstone remarked, "we needed to extend the deadline because there are so many families requesting the cameras."

In recent months Goldstone and Operation Photo have donated $100,000 in older and used digital cameras to military families via the California based non-profit "Operation Homefront." In February, Kodak and Olympus announced they were donating cameras to Goldstone's cause. Kodak contributed 100 of its 3 megapixel EasyShare CX6330s and Olympus gave Goldstone 100 digital cameras as well. Konica Minolta also chipped in, FedExing over 50 cameras before Goldstone's first press conference.

According to an Operation Photo press release, "All donated digital cameras will be packaged for distribution to military bases and military family support organizations across the nation. Service members abroad can also use the company's free photo sharing service to send pictures back home and order prints."
