Let’s be honest, vacuuming is one of the worst chores out there. It’s tedious, it’s loud, and even my dog hates it; he likes to bark at the vacuum to vocalize his discontent. No one really likes to vacuum, but it’s a necessary step in your cleaning routine to keep your floors looking tidy. We want to let you in on a little secret though—this annoying task can be made much easier by investing in a robot vacuum, which will pick up crumbs and debris for you in between your scheduled deep cleans. And currently, we know of one that’s on sale for an amazing low price on Amazon. If you can’t decide what to get Mom for Mother’s Day on Sunday, this could be a gift that she’ll actually use.
The iRobot Roomba 671 went on sale today for $229.99 on Amazon as a Deal of the Day. You can save $120 on this typically $350 robot vacuum and check “get a gift for Mom” of your to-do list in one fell swoop. Don’t you just love when multitasking includes online shopping?
The 671 features a 3-stage cleaning system that was designed with both carpets and hard floors in mind to loosen and lift away dirt, pet hair, and other particles large and small. It has smart navigation and WiFi connectivity as well, which means you can control it with the iRobot Home App, in addition to voice commanding it using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. (If Mom doesn’t already have a smart assistant, an Echo Dot or a Google Home Mini could be a great, affordable companion gift.)
While we haven’t had a chance to test this model just yet, Jonathan Chan, our resident robot vacuum expert, had this to say about the 671: “iRobot is a pretty trustworthy brand. I've seen how they test robot vacuums and they do a thorough job. Based on what I know about the 671 platform, I'd say it'll probably do a good job cleaning hardwood floors and light carpet but might struggle with throw rugs and deep pile.”
This sale only lasts ‘til the end of the day today, so now is the perfect time to buy the robot vacuum that you (or Mom) have been thinking about. This way, Mother’s Day can be a day spent at the spa instead of one spent cleaning.
