At its CES 2016 press conference, Panasonic reconfirmed its commitment to the storied Technics brand. In fact Julie Bauer, President of Panasonic Consumer Electronics North America, spent a big chunk of her stage time on old and new Technics products.

"Renewed consumer interest in vinyl records has created a 'vinyl revival,'" said Bauer, "and with it comes the need for a next generation of the Hi-Fi turntable."

Panasonic previously unveiled its Ottava SC-C500 Hi-Fi system and HD10 high-res headphones at IFA 2015. The headphones feature 50mm HD driver units for excellent bass reproduction.

With year-after-year growth of vinyl sales, Panasonic is tapping into a consumer base that's willing to spend extra for a "warm" sound. Old-school audiophiles shouldn't fear the Japanese tech giant retiring the brand for a second time. Technics went on a five-year hiatus in 2010, but now the brand's back on tour.
