About the Zevo Flying Insect Trap
Zevo brand's primary size of its flying insect traps. The 24/7 Continuous Catch is nicely sized to catch all sorts of flying insects in larger living areas of your home.
- Type: Plug-in indoor flying insect trap
- Lure technology: Blue and UV light
- Catches: House flies, fruit flies, gnats, and other small flying insects
- Power: 120V/60Hz standard North American outlet
- Cartridge life: Roughly every 30–45 days, depending on bug volume
- Versions available: Zevo Flying Insect Trap (standard plug-in), Zevo Flying Insect Trap Twin Pack, Zevo Max Flying Insect Trap (corded base, larger coverage area)
- Use: Indoor only; not for outdoor or wet locations
The Zevo Flying Insect Trap is a chemical-free, plug-in pest control device that uses a combination of blue and UV light to lure flying insects into a sticky adhesive cartridge mounted behind the light source. Once a bug lands, it gets stuck and stays put. When the cartridge fills up, you grab the no-mess pull tab, toss the old cartridge in the trash, and snap in a fresh one.
Zevo sells the trap in a few different configurations. The full size (standard) Zevo Flying Insect Trap is the basic plug-in unit, sold as a starter kit with one base and one cartridge, or as a twin pack. There's also the Zevo Max Flying Insect Trap, a corded version that features two adhesive surfaces instead of one and is built for bigger, busier rooms where a standard trap may not be enough. Lastly, Zevo offers the Zevo Plant with one plug-in trap that's about half the size of the original and two cartridges. Refill cartridges are sold separately in multi-packs.
What we like
Constant, chemical-free bug protection
The Zevo trap does an excellent job of catching flying insects in your home without using any chemicals. And the trap itself is very easy to change when its time to switch sticky inserts.
Wondering how the Zevo Fly Trap works? It’s designed to plug into standard electrical wall outlets (indoors, of course) and uses an ultraviolet (UV) and blue light to effectively lure in winged pests like houseflies, fruit flies, and gnats.
The color naturally attracts flies to the light, which is positioned in front of an adhesive backing where the flies land and eventually get stuck. For easy disposal, the adhesive cartridge slides in and out of the fly trap, so you can replace it hassle-free whenever it's full of bugs.
You might be wondering, “Is that really it?” Yup. That’s all it takes, just UV and blue light. There are absolutely no chemicals used in the Zevo Fly Trap (or exterminators needed), either, so it’s a much safer pest removal option for homes with children and pets. Traditional sprays rely on toxins that can linger in the air and settle on surfaces. Zevo is a cleaner alternative that eliminates pests without adding irritants to your living space.
Another bonus? This plug-in fly trap is odorless, making it an excellent alternative to fruit fly sprays and insecticides that are typically pretty smelly because they use harsh chemicals. There are no fumes or fog, so you’re not breathing in anything weird. Just clean air and fewer flies. Because it doesn’t spray, zap, or emit strong odors, it’s a safer option for homes with kids, pets, or anyone with respiratory sensitivities.
A greener, more energy-efficient way to get rid of flies
If you’re also a sustainability-minded person like I am, you’re bound to appreciate how the Zevo plug-in fly traps are an eco-conscious pest control option, both for your family and home.
They’re non-toxic, helping you avoid issues like potential indoor pollutant buildup and chemical runoff that could put yourself and other members of your family at risk. And even though they use UV and blue light to keep your home free of pests, they use low wattage to help you watch your energy consumption. Even though it runs all day, it barely consumes electricity. The low-watt UV light means you won’t notice a bump on your energy bill.
It’s a win-win for anyone who wants to banish everything from gnats to house flies responsibly and effectively, all while helping you keep up with greener living standards.
A pest control solution that really works
We caught lots of bugs after just a week of use.
I’ve been using the Zevo Fly Trap for several months now. I'm impressed and yet both disgusted and oddly satisfied every time I check the cartridge. Why? Because it captures almost every bug that flies around my home.
Additionally, I never see bugs swarming the trap, either. They seem to make their way to it individually throughout the day. I used a Zevo Fly Trap, plugged in near my kitchen trash can (which is typically buzzing with fruit flies and house flies), and another in my garage.
But for areas with extra gnat and fruit fly activity, like my kitchen counter near my sink, I have the Zevo Max Flying Insect Trap plugged in. This is one of the most problematic areas for me because of the garbage disposal and continuous flow of dirty dishes, so I grabbed the big guns to get the job done.
The Zevo Max uses the same blue light to attract the bugs, but has two adhesive backings instead of one. It works just as well (if not better!) at reducing the number of flies in my kitchen.
I also like that the cartridges are fully sealed and easy to swap out without making a mess. It’s a thoughtful design choice that keeps disposal clean and low-waste, and it means I don’t have to feel queasy changing it out. Zevo recommends checking the trap every 15 days, but I found you can get another couple of weeks out of it. However, this all depends on the severity of the fly problem you’re dealing with.
The refills are affordable
You've got inexpensive options, based on your needs.
The replacement cartridges for the Zevo Flying Insect Trap come in multi-packs. Once the cartridge is full, you pull it out and discard it: no residue, no messy cleanup, and no leaky mess.
The lowest cost option is the four-pack, which, at the time of publication, works out to $3.65 per replacement cartridge. All in all, that’s not a bad price to pay for dealing with an annoying problem, especially when it comes to house flies.
What we don’t like
The blue light is bright
The blue light is always bright.
The entire point of the blue light is to attract the bugs, but here’s my warning: the light is very bright at night, and the brightness isn’t adjustable. For this reason, it’s best to leave the Zevo Fly Trap outside your bedroom if you’re disturbed by small amounts of light while sleeping.
On the other hand, this is an excellent solution if you have a fly problem in an area that needs a nightlight, such as a bathroom or the kitchen.
Should you buy the Zevo Flying Insect Trap?
Yes, this plug-in trap will solve your fruit fly problems
Zevo Flying Insect Trap "Plant" edition is smaller than the 24/7 Continuous Catch, and it's meant to be placed directly around houseplants. Also, it's smaller, so its light isn't as bothersome after dark.
The Zevo Flying Insect Trap is a safe, effective, and hassle-free way to get rid of gnats, fruit flies, and house flies promptly. While it’s not an overnight solution, there’s a noticeable reduction in flies after just a few days, and you can see the evidence that it’s actually working.
Keep in mind that the blue light is super bright, so you may want to avoid putting the Zevo Flying Insect Trap in rooms where people are sleeping. However, it performs very well in high-traffic fly zones like kitchens, garages, and bathrooms. If you’ve got a spring or summer fly problem, you’ll want to add this chemical-free pest control solution to your home.
