So, you missed Prime Day. No worries, there are still plenty of bargains to be had in July. And it’s summer until September, so what you buy now you can use for a couple of months—and keep using next year!

Here are some of our recommendations on what to buy in July:

1. Stuff with stars and stripes

Stock up on patriotic decorations at your local party store

There are lots of patriotic-themed items marked down after the 4th of July. Craft and party stores are clearing them out. Buy them for next year and you can start enjoying them as soon as Memorial Day.

2. Bathing suits

Right in the middle of summer, you can buy the bikini or trunks you’ve been looking for. We found some great styles at J. Crew for between 30% and 40% off. You'll love the pineapple and watermelon prints, off-the-shoulder ruffled tops, colorblock styles, and gingham checks.

Shop J. Crew men's swimwear and women's swimwear. Use code YESPLEASE for full discount.

Of course you can use an outdoor rug inside. Put one in the playroom, so you can clean it up easily. At AllModern, we found the Hampton Dark Ivory Geometric area rug by Safavieh, which has a whimsical print that both kids and adults will like. For the patio, Wayfair has a mid-summer Outdoor Sale going on, too.

5. Sports and fitness gear

You may be able to find deals at local tourist destinations as they deal with cancelations. If you're traveling in August, you can also find some tremendous deals on flights to Europe and Asia—well under $500 round trip from major U.S. cities.

But if you’re looking for a place to get away from July's heat and humidity, bask in a geothermal lagoon, and enjoy the light 24 hours a day, visit Iceland. Take the I Heart Reykjavik Walking Tour to find out about local bargains.

7. House paint

If it isn't too hot, summer is a great time to paint a house

Summer is the perfect time to paint—and sales mean you can save, too. For instance, Sherwin-Williams retail stores are advertising 40% off list prices on most paints and stains between July 14–17.
