Have you ever logged into Netflix and gone through the recommended categories looking for something new to watch only to find nothing catching your eye? Despite having gone on a Disney movie binge, maybe I want to look through something other than "Feel-good Animation" or "Children & Family Movies." Maybe I'm looking for a classic war movie or cult sci-fi and fantasy movie.
Lucky for me (and you), there's a way to curate those searches to find exactly what you're looking for. Netflix has a master list of categories it uses to curate its content list and anyone can access that list with the right URL and code.
Using the URL http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/#### as a jumping off point, just substitute the #### for a code corresponding to the category you're looking for. Like, "Classic War Movie" is 48744 and "Cult Sci-Fi and Fantasy Movies" is 4734.
It's a pretty broad range of categories to pick from and some won't even show up in search at all without using one of these codes. I've highlighted some of my personal favorites below (plus some that are just plain weird) or you can head to the Netflix Secret Categories page for a full list. Happy bingeing!
