Once upon a time, you could only buy Kenmore appliances at Sears, and you couldn’t buy large appliances on Amazon at all.
But that’s all changing. After announcing a partnership to sell smart appliances on Amazon earlier this summer, even more Kenmore products are headed to the online retailer.
The move also marks Amazon’s first foray into major appliances, like washers and refrigerators—a category that the online giant largely ignored.
Unlike third-party resellers who list appliances on Amazon Marketplace, these Kenmore products are directly sold from the manufacturer, and Sears Home Services will offer extended warranty coverage.
According to Kenmore, major appliances will initially be available in Orange County, with sales in the Chicago area starting by late September. The end goal is to reach nationwide coverage.
Products will be sold through Amazon and delivered by Innovel Solutions—formerly known as Sears Logistics—a freight and delivery company that also does home deliveries for Costco.
