LG has been knocking on the door of Dolby Atmos greatness for years. The SC9S got close. The S80QY got even closer. But the LG Dolby Atmos Soundbar H7 is what’s finally kicking it open and bringing something no other soundbar has ever shipped with: Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, a technology that detects where your speakers are sitting and calibrates everything around them in real time.

We've seen pieces of this before; never all of it at once. And right now it's $100 off at Best Buy, which feels like a good excuse to pay attention and add one to your home.

What is Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

The placement problem every other soundbar ignores

If you’re not already familiar with how Dolby Atmos works, the setup process makes it difficult to tell if any of it’s actually working. The more immersive setups require rear speakers, and rear speakers require placement.

You also need to think about wire runs, speaker stands, or, at a minimum, finding a spot on your shelving that doesn’t look terrible. And even then, the system doesn’t really know where you put them—you tell it, set levels manually, and hope for the best.

How FlexConnect is different

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect solves this headache. When you pair the H7 with LG Sound Suite wireless speakers—the M7 or M5—you can place those speakers wherever you want in the room. Literally anywhere: on a shelf, on the floor, behind the couch, in the corner.

Once connected, FlexConnect uses built-in microphones to detect each speaker’s position and automatically calibrates the entire system in real time, adjusting levels, delay, and spatial mapping so the audio matches where the speakers are actually sitting.

Wireless rear speakers aren’t new. Auto-calibration isn’t new. But a system that combines true placement flexibility with real-time positional optimization, all running through Dolby’s own spatial audio engine? That’s the H7’s claim to a first.

It would be easy to dismiss FlexConnect as a headline feature bolted onto an otherwise ordinary soundbar, though the LG Dolby Atmos Soundbar H7’s hardware makes that hard to argue.

This is a 9.1.6-channel system driven by the α11 AI Processor, the same chip LG puts in its flagship OLED TVs, with enough firepower to handle real-time optimization across every driver simultaneously. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • 12 speaker drivers and 8 passive radiators: a hardware package that would have required a full AV rack a decade ago.
  • AI Room Calibration Pro: analyzes your room’s acoustics and fine-tunes each channel automatically.
  • Sound Follow: tracks your position in the room via the LG ThinQ app and a UWB-enabled device, then subtly adjusts the soundfield so you’re always at the center of it.
  • Full Sound Suite compatibility: run it solo as a standalone soundbar, or expand with up to four M7/M5 wireless speakers and a W7 subwoofer. It’s a system that grows with your budget rather than locking you in at purchase.
  • Direct wireless pairing with compatible LG OLED and QNED TVs: no HDMI cable required for LG TV owners.

$100 off makes now the moment to buy

New product categories rarely launch with a discount. The LG Dolby Atmos Soundbar H7 is an exception: Through June 15, it’s $100 off at Best Buy, bringing the price down on a soundbar that’s introducing technology the rest of the market hasn’t caught up to yet.

Whether you’re going in with just the H7 or already eyeing the full Sound Suite expansion, this is where LG’s years of Atmos work have been pointing. It’s the most complete, most ambitious LG soundbar we’ve seen—and right now it’s the most affordable it’s probably going to be for a while.
