Amped Wireless has announced the debut of the REC15A Wi-Fi Range Extender.

One of the advantages of the REC15A lies in its compact design. It’s highly portable, measuring 3” by 5”, and allows for Wi-Fi range extension in a variety of environments.

It's a small plug-in unit that uses ultra-fast 802.11AC technology. The REC15A is universal, which means it’s compatible with all brands of standard Wi-Fi routers, and capable of extending Wi-Fi coverage by up to 5,000 square feet.

Parental controls are also included, and can be customized to restrict access for certain users or during certain times of the day.

The REC15A features high power dual band amplifiers up to 500mW, as well as an external dual band high gain antenna. By comparison, most standard Wi-Fi devices have an output power of 50mW. It also includes a wired port, which allows you to connect and bridge an additional network device, such as a PC.

Parental controls are also included, and can be customized to restrict access for certain users or during certain times of the day. And like all of the products offered by Amped Wireless, the REC15A includes the Wi-Fi Analytics Tool App, which offers analytic and optimization tools for a user’s home network.

The pricing of the REC159 is set at $99, and is available for pre-order directly from Amped Wireless. It will ship during the first quarter of 2014.
