Jenn-Air is one of America's most exciting luxury appliance brands. We recently had the chance to scope out two of its newest offerings, and we came away impressed—both by the latest TriFecta 9000 series dishwashers and the company's first Connected Wall Oven.
There's a big trend this year, and it's squarely located at the intersection of the internet of things and your kitchen. Connectivity is a big selling point for a lot of kitchen appliances; doesn't it follow that a luxury oven in the year 2015 includes some modern, mobile tech?
Jenn-Air has had touchscreen interfaces on its ovens for a while, but this is the first one with connectivity. Moreover, the control panel has ditched cumbersome knobs in favor of capacitive buttons, providing a clean, interactive touch experience.
When the oven is off, the separate capacitive buttons simply disappear, and the touchscreen stays on with a simple clock face. If you'd like, you can also customize the screen to feature a custom background behind the clock.
Using Jenn-Air's smartphone app, you can remotely command the oven to preheat. When combined with the wired probe, the app can also tell you the internal temperature of your food. It's a pretty smart oven, and it can help you figure out how to bake your food depending on pan type, meat type, meat doneness, and other parameters.
Jenn-Air's Connected Wall Oven will go on sale later this year, and will be available in single, double, and double-with-microwave configurations. Moreover, it's compatible with handle styles from across Jenn-Air's range of Pro and Euro model appliances.
Jenn-Air's newest dishwashers include some brand-new features and design flourishes, pairing nicely with the rest of the company's product lineup.
The TriFecta 9000 dishwashers offer a similar look to the Jenn-Air Obsidian refrigerator, which launched last fall. And we have to say, it's quite impressive. The obsidian-style coloring is on the inside of the appliance, with a dark matte coating on the racks. With this option, you also get eye-catching brushed metal accents on the rack handles and wash arms.
Those racks are mounted on the company's signature UltraGlide rails, which felt smooth yet strong. Models with the JDB9600 designation get a third, small rack at the top designed for whisks, ladles, and spatulas. These handy trays were very simple to remove, and lightweight when empty.
A big feature of all Jenn-Air dishwashers should go mostly unnoticed: The company offers some of the quietest dishwashers around. These new 9000-series models get as quiet as 42 dB, with the less expensive options operating at around 46 dB.
