Big news from Viking: The high-end appliance manufacturer announced it will be returning to the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS 2014) for the first time in five years, bringing with it an all-new lineup of electric and gas cooktops.

The new Viking Professional gas and electric built-ins will be part of the company's plans to announce over 60 new products over the next few months.

According to Viking, the new Professional gas cooktops boast the highest combined BTU rating in the industry. Each gas cooktop will include an 18,000 BTU burner for sautéing and rapid boiling. The new line will also feature Viking's SureSpark Ignition System, which purports to automatically re-ignite extinguished gas burner flames during cooking.

Along with these new innovations, the gas cooktops will also feature the standard high-end additions, such as sealed burners, brass burner rings, and scratch resistant grates, as well as removable knobs, grates, and caps for easy clean up.

Viking's Professional electric cooktops will feature a triple element and a bridge element to accommodate for a number of pan and pot sizes. The company promises "lightning fast" heatup, even though an induction model doesn't appear to be coming to KBIS.

We'll be covering the show in great detail this year, so hopefully we'll get a little hands-on time with these new cooktops. Once they're on sale, we hope to get them into our labs for some testing, too.
