There are a lot of things to be worried about when it comes to parenting, but every parent's nightmare is inadvertently leaving their child inside a hot car. It happens more often than you might think—and can be deadly—but the innovative Tata Band by Filo, Smart Car Seat Reminder Band aims to change that.

What is the Tata Band?

The Tata Band pairs with a monitoring app to keep kids from being left in hot cars.

Created by Filo, an Italian technology company, the Tata Band is a Bluetooth-enabled band that attaches to the seatbelt on a child's car seat and pairs with a parent's smartphone. The Tata activates when a parent gets 9 to 15 feet away, and, after three minutes, sends an alarm to the parent’s phone. If the parent doesn't disable the alarm confirming that they know their child is in the car, Tata calls the parent at the four-minute mark.

If the second notification fails to reach the parent, Tata then proceeds to voice call all the other emergency contacts (up to five of them) programmed into the app. Once an emergency contact is reached, Tata sends a GPS location of where the child is located so that they can be rescued from the car.

The Tata Band is expected to be available in the United States in the fall of 2021, and will retail for $59.90. The companion app and monitoring service are free.
