*27th March 2009 *– Lexmark has announced 9 new mono multifunction laser printers in three new model lines for small office users. The new models include support for printing, scanning and copying with optional faxing and range from the $399 X264 to the $999 X463, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen.
At the bottom end of the price range is the new X260 series, such as the X264DN, which costs $399.99. This mono laser multifunction offers 1200 by 1200 dots per inch printing at up to 30 pages per minute from the 550-sheet drawer. A flatbed scanner with a built-in auto document feeder is also included, as well as an Ethernet port that supports network printing. However, network faxing or scanning is not supported.
In the middle of the new lineup is the X360 range, such as the $499 X363DN. This ups the speed slightly to 35 pages per minute, and includes a 24-bit scanner with a 50-sheet auto document feeder. It also adds network scanning; scans can be sent directly to any computer on the network that is running the Lexmark Network Scan center software. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software is also included
At the high end of the newly announced product lines is the X460 series, such as the $999 X463DE. This model is designed for small to medium sized offices, as it can print at up to 40 pages per minute single sided or 18 pages per minute when printing duplex. The mono laser printing engine prints at a resolution of 1200 by 1200 dots per inch, and can produce the first page of output in around 6.5 seconds. It also offers a 7-inch touch screen interface that can be configured for easier access to functions. Network scanning is also supported, but fax support is only available as an add-on feature.
