Sony has just announced the DPP-F700, a combination photo printer and photo frame. The printer can produce up to 4 by 6 inch prints in about 45 seconds. A pack of 40 sheets of paper and ink costs about $19, for a per page cost of about 47 cents.
The screen of the DDP-F700 is a 7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. It can be laid flat, or it can be angled up to Approximately 1GB of memory allows the device to hold several hundred images for display and printing. Images can also be edited before they are printed, and a number of built-in templates allow for the creation of calendar and other prints that use multiple images on one page.
Images can be copied from MemoryStick, SD/SDHC or CompactFlash cards. A USB port also allows for printing from a PictBridge camera or a PC or Mac computer. The DPP-F700 will be priced at around $200 and will be released in January.
