July 11, 2007 – Samsung Electronics America announced today the release of three new printers, including the CLX-2160N and the CLX-3160FN, the company’s latest multifunction lasers, and the CLP-300N, a small single-function laser printer. The CLX-2160N features print, scan, and copy functions for $499. The CLX-3160FN adds a fax to the mix for $599. The CLP-300N will retail for $349. These models are available now.

While all of these printers are being touted as small, space-saving machines, Samsung is claiming that the CLX-2160N and the CLP-300N are the world’s smallest and lightest printers in their respective classes. The company reduces the size and weight of all three of these printers by replacing the cartridges with toner bottles. The CLX-2160N weighs in at 36.3 pounds and measures 16.3' x 13.9' x 13.1." It is capable of print speeds of 16 ppm black and 4 ppm color and a resolution of up to 2400 x 600 dpi. Connectivity features include 10/100 Base-TX network connection, direct-from-camera image printing with a PictBridge port (normally unseen on laser printers), and a USB port for printing from USB storage devices.  The CLX-2160N comes with 128 mb of memory, and it can also scan letter-sized documents at 1200 x 600 dpi and make copies at 600 x 600 dpi. Users can also scan directly to USB memory. Samsung has added ID Card Copy to this multi-function, which allows users to copy both sides of an identification or insurance card with one button, a feature that is becoming more common on multi-function printers. The CLX-3160FN has all of the same features as the 2160N, plus a fax with 4 mb of memory and 3-second per page scan speed. It also features an auto document feeder with a 50-sheet capacity.  At 30 pounds and 15.4' x 13.5' x 10.4', the CLP-300N features 17 ppm black-and-white document printing and 4 ppm color printing. The NO NOIS print engine is intended to reduce printer noise and is also found in the company’s high-end laser printers. This model has 64 mb of memory and a 150-sheet capacity input paper tray.

All of these models are Windows Vista compatible.
