TVs and Tablets
Here at the company's press conference, Hisense is debuting a line of televisions and tablets to the CES 2014 crowd. The new TVs use cutting-edge technology including Smart TV controls, Google Television powered by Android, and Ultra-LED imaging for a reinvented viewing experience.
Hisense announces that it has spent the past year working on expanding their global market and making themselves into a technology presence outside of their home country of China. The company broke the $1 billion mark in 2013, and expect to break the 3 million unit sales mark in the United States by the end of 2014.
The company is currently considering building a TV factory within the United States before the year is over. A partnership with Flextronics International leads to the release of VIDAA TV, a new way to apply technology to television viewing.
The VIDAA Smart TV Platform
Chris Tyghe is the head of marketing for JAMDEO, the corporation that has grown from the partnership between Flextronics and Hisense. Tyghe introduces VIDAA in greater depth with a discussion of the evolution of Smart TV up until the current time. He states that the idea behind VIDAA began with the thought that televisions are not computers, but they can and should take advantage of the power computers can offer.
The result was VIDAA, which operates on the concept of Smart TV that offers the pleasurable viewing experience of traditional television combined with the convenience and efficiency of computers and networking.
The VIDAA system is loaded with an Android-powered Smart TV interface, which uses HD and LED technology for quality imaging. "Jumping" is part of the system's new take on the TV experience; the idea behind it is to let users "jump" from content type to content type as desired, choosing from live television, video on demand, a media center, and the user's applications.
Built-in WiFi, a Google Chrome browser, sharing of digital information and files, and extra luxuries like voice control and a virtual keyboard are meant to make it easy to access whatever users would like to watch in the easiest way possible.
"Hisense has boldly re-invented the concept of Smart TV with the VIDAA series. By combining a sleek and elegant look with the most intuitive UI and innovative remote control, our television is no longer just smart—it’s simply brilliant,” says Frank.
As of 2014, Hisense offers a range of new televisions loaded with the VIDAA system. These include the following:
The H8 Curved Ultra HD TV has a curved 65-inch display that's meant to give viewers a movie theater-like experience. High resolution imaging combines with an Android system and Smart TV features like Vudu, Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube. Built-in wifi and USB ports give you instant access to digital content and 4K video playback. The H8 is expected on the American market by the third quarter of 2014.
Also just released is the H9 Ultra HD Series TV, featuring the same Smart TV applications as the H8, paired with Ultra-LED lighting.
