For the average person who hasn’t worn Lululemon before, you might associate the brand with its iconic yoga pants. Nevertheless, over the years, the brand has expanded its cozy empire from its relaxed workout leggings to running sneakers, plus-sizes, tennis skirts, and now, casual pants. Enter the world of the ABC Classic-Fit and the ABC Jogger pants.

What are the ABC Classic-Fit Warpstreme Pants and Joggers?

Lululemon's ABC pants are designed to be more ergonomic around the waist.

The ABC in Lululemon’s ABC line stands for “anti-ball crushing,” and you might be asking how that informs the design. The pants feature ergonomic gussets, or extra fabric, sewn between the legs of the pants for more mobility and less tension. The Warpstreme name refers to a proprietary fabric developed by Lululemon, which is a blend of polyester and elastane that stretches four ways, dries quickly, and has shape-retention to keep the pants from wrinkling. If you’re lounging at home and have plans later that night, the ABC/Warpstreme combo lets you step out in comfort and style without a costume change.

The Classic-Fit pant has five pockets: two in the front, two in the back, and even a zippered pocket inside of its back right pocket. The bottom cuffs can be rolled-up to see reflective strips on both sides. They come in 15 colors in waist sizes from 28 to 40 inches and length sizes from 28 to 37 inches.

As for the Jogger, its ABC construction allows your legs and groin the room to breathe if you’re at the gym or on the road. You can also conceal the drawcord if you’re going out in public. Unlike the Classic-Fit pants, the jogger only has two pockets in the front and one in the back. It is available in 15 colors with waist sizes from XS to XXL in lengths from 28 to 32 inches.

How I tested the Lululemon ABC Classic-Fit Warpstreme Pants and Joggers

The pants were tested in both workouts and everyday wear.

I already have two other pairs of Lululemon joggers, so I had an idea of what to expect with the ABC jogger. I wore the joggers around my condo, once for a whole day as I worked from home, and then as my post-work comfy pants (we all have them, admit it).

The Warpstreme jogger is equally suited for a workout as it is a night in, but its material feels thinner and lighter than the average pair of sweatpants, so I’d be inclined to keep them for workouts. They’re comfortable, though they don’t feel as cozy and warm to the touch as a pair of classic fleece or cotton sweatpants. Having 15 colorways to choose from means you have full control of how much of a statement you want to make. The darker-colored joggers don’t draw attention to themselves, but the pair of white joggers I tested definitely stick out (before and after Labor Day).

The Classic-Fit Pants got both versions of the all-day test: once working from home, and once in the office. They have the look of typical khaki business pants and go great with a matching-colored belt. Whether at home or in the office, the pants blend in with most work attire—at least from far away. Up close, they look more like yoga pants pretending to be business casual. That is to say, the success of the Classic-Fit pants as officewear will depend on your workplace’s dress code.

What I loved about the Lululemon ABC Classic-Fit Warpstreme Pants and Joggers

The pants feel smooth to the touch.

The Classic-Fit Pants feel smooth to the touch, more like a viscose material than cotton. They’re easy to slide on if you’re following a strict morning routine or in a rush to get out the door. Whether you’re standing, walking, or trapped at your desk for a long period of time, the pants feel as comfortable as your favorite pair of Dockers.

They hold steady on the waist, but I found that a belt was helpful when heading into the office. If you get a splash of water on the pants, the lightweight material makes you feel the stain on your leg immediately. Miraculously though, those light water stains actually faded into the pants I tested and made them practically invisible to the eye. The pants are washer- and dryer-safe and felt good as new after laundry day.

The joggers feel loose and free around the legs, making them a comfortable fit for your lazier days of the week. Even with that freedom down below, the waistband is comfy and sturdy, so you don’t have to worry about tripping over your pant legs. They washed just as well as the Classic-Fit pants and didn't retain any stains after washing.

What I didn’t like about the Lululemon ABC Classic-Fit Warpstreme Pants and Joggers

The pockets are a little awkward to reach.

As mentioned above, the Classic-Fit pants have the appearance of business casual khaki pants from far away, but seeing them up close makes them look a bit more basic, like a pair of simple pajama pants. I found the front pockets to be oddly positioned—you have to stick your essentials directly downwards into the pockets, which takes some getting used to. The zippered pocket in the back is helpful and unique for certain cases, but still feels awkward to reach for. In the end, the Classic-Fit pants are a good choice for working from home and a casual night out with friends, but don’t pass the test as business casual pants.

As for the joggers, they don’t slide on as easily as your typical sweatpants thanks to the elastic holes at the bottom of each leg. While they helped keep my ankles warm, the elastic cuffs also prevented my foot from going all the way through on occasion. When it comes to sweatpants for a run or a nap, I want to be able to slide right into them, but the ABC jogger isn’t as easy to slip on.

Are the Lululemon ABC Classic-Fit Warpstreme Pants and Joggers worth it?

If you’re looking for a pair of pants that appear stylish to the naked eye with the comfort of your homebound comfy pants, the Classic-Fit pants are a great choice and do a good job of hiding wear and tear. They can offer just the right amount of comfort for a date or a family get-together, though they would look out of place at your next in-person board meeting or job interview.

As for the joggers, keep those as a home option. They’re comfortable and look long-lasting, but stick out, especially in their lighter colors. Whatever your preference, Lululemon’s promise of comfort has now been proven effective on threads meant for more than yoga.
