If I were to call myself an expert in one thing, it would be leggings. As a yoga teacher, 5-days-a-week gym-goer, and lover of all things comfy, it makes sense that I really do live in leggings. Over the years, I've accumulated more than my fair share of them (I currently own over 40 pairs) and with that, extensive knowledge on what does—and doesn't—make a great pair of leggings.
One of my favorite pairs in my current collection are my Beyond Yoga Spacedye leggings. Loved by celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, and Gwyneth Paltrow (and myself), the popular leggings are everything you could want in a pair: comfortable, flattering, and great quality. Below are my honest thoughts on Beyond Yoga leggings—including whether they live up to Lululemon's—and if you should snag a pair for yourself this year.
What I love about Beyond Yoga leggings
There are leggings that feel barely there and then there are leggings that are a second skin—i.e. you totally forget you're even wearing pants. That's exactly how I feel in Beyond Yoga leggings. The fabric is both lightweight and breathable, even in the hottest of yoga classes, and they never feel suffocating or compressive. But at the same time, the material is thick enough and supportive enough that I can wear them when I'm doing more intense workouts like weight lifting or HIIT. Along with the above, the leggings are also so soft that I can comfortably lounge around in them (which is hard to find in a pair of athletic leggings that also has support and magical sweat-wicking powers!).
One of my absolute favorite features of the Beyond Yoga leggings is the very wide and very high waistband. At five inches wide, it's both flattering and comfortable and hits at just the right point on my waist. It's also snug enough that it doesn't fall down while I work out, yet doesn't cut into my skin.
How do Beyond Yoga leggings compare to Lululemon Align leggings?
Complete honesty here: Lululemon Align Leggings are—and always will be—my very favorite leggings (I've spent over $1,000 on them to date, which is proof of my obsession). Though, I will also say that Beyond Yoga leggings are a close second in terms of softness and fit. They're not as buttery smooth as my Align leggings, but they're the closest to them that I've found so far in all of my legging experiences. But since the two are very similarly priced, I would probably opt for the Aligns first.
Another benefit to Beyond Yoga leggings is that, just like Lululemon Aligns, they're available in all different lengths from capri to long (similarly, Lululemon ranges from 21" to 28"). Having those options makes it easier to find a pair of leggings that's custom-fit to your body and height, rather than relying on a "one-length-fits-all" option.
Are Beyond Yoga leggings worth the money?
The Beyond Yoga Spacedye leggings that I own (and do love) retail for $97 which may seem expensive, but in the world of higher end activewear, is actually pretty comparable. And in this case, you definitely get what you pay for: a thick yet breathable high-quality pair of leggings that will last you for plenty of workouts and lounge-around-the-house sessions to come.
Plus, for as functional as they are, they're also incredibly flattering and inclusive. They come in a variety of colors, lengths, and sizes (from XXS to XXL), so there's a pair that'll fit any body size and shape. To sum it up: If you've been searching for that elusive pair of leggings that look as good as they feel, you'll find them in the Beyond Yoga Spacedye leggings.
Where to buy Beyond Yoga leggings
You can find Beyond Yoga leggings at various online retailers. Of course you'll have the most variety of styles, prints, and colors to choose from if you shop directly from Beyond Yoga's website. However, you can also shop the popular leggings at other retailers like Nordstrom, Yoga Outlet, and Revolve with the benefit of finding different styles on sale.
