I've spent hundreds at Shein—these are the 10 best things I've bought

I wear them again and again... and again.

Of all the places I’ve shopped—and as Reviewed’s style editor, I’ve shopped at a lotShein is by far my favorite. I get everything from the popular fast-fashion retailer: activewear, dresses, shorts, jewelry, shoes, purses, you name it. Every couple of weeks, I place a massive order, typically consisting of 15-plus pieces and totaling $100 to $150—a steal!

Over the last two years, I’ve spent hundreds at Shein and, while I’ve gotten my share of flops, I’ve also filled my closet with staples I wear again and again. These are the top 10 things I’ve ordered—and re-ordered—from Shein, including my favorite jean shorts and the tank top I’ve bought 11 times.

Here’s what we’re shopping right now at Ralph Lauren

1. This high-waisted skort

I'm a big fan of skorts—especially this one from Shein.

I love skirts but I don’t love worrying about sudden gusts of wind or climbing into my boyfriend’s truck without flashing everyone. So when I learned that skorts were once again trendy, I was ecstatic. I immediately ordered this one from Shein—and have since ordered three more.

The small (my usual size) hits mid-thigh on my 5-foot-5 frame and looks like a skirt from the front but shorts from the back. The real win here is that the shorts completely cover my booty, which is tough to find in today’s world, at least in my experience. The skort comes in women’s sizes XS to XL and in six colors.

2. These basic crop tops

I wear a Shein crop top every single day.

It’s a rare day that I wear a shirt that’s not a crop top. All of mine—and I do mean all of them—are from Shein. I own the ribbed spaghetti-strap one, the button-front sleeveless version, and the drawstring crop top in multiple colors (and in my typical size small). Each style is comfortable, versatile and, best of all, very affordable.

You can snag them individually for as little as $5 or grab an assorted three-pack for $11. The crop tops come in women’s sizes XS to XL and a variety of colors, depending on the style.

These cut-off shorts

I own multiple pairs of these shorts in different washes.

It’s tough for me to find shorts that I like and that fit me—I’m a size 4 with an athletic build, so what fits my waist is often too tight on my thighs and what fits my thighs is often too loose on my waist. These denim shorts somehow manage to fit in both places.

My natural waist measures 26 inches and I found the size small to fit like a glove. The shorts are high-waisted and ripped and frayed in all the right places. I wear them almost every day and now own four pairs. They come in women’s sizes XS to L and in five shades of denim.

These colorful bikinis

I've gotten almost all of my bathing suits from Shein now.

As is the case with a lot of things I buy, I don’t like to spend a ton on swimsuits. That’s why I get all of mine at Shein. I’ve ordered a lot, returned a lot—whether they were too revealing or too tight—and fortunately, also kept a lot.

Some of my favorites include a contrast two-piece suit—which our managing editor also adores!—a cheekier ribbed bikini, and a vibrant red set. They all fit true to size in my usual small and provide enough coverage in the back that I feel comfortable wearing them in public. The bikinis come in women’s sizes S to L and a rainbow of colors.

This crossbody bag

This purse looks exactly as it does in the photos in real life.

I’m not a tiny-purse person—I prefer totes like my go-to Aldo carryall. But sometimes I don’t need something the size of a small house, like when I’m just running to the grocery store or going out to dinner. On a whim the last time I placed a Shein order, I decided to try out this crossbody bag—and it didn’t disappoint.

I like that it’s small enough that it doesn’t feel bulky, yet it’s roomy enough to fit my wallet, phone, and makeup for touch-ups. While the crossbody strap isn’t removable, I found that it’s easy to tuck inside the purse to use it as a clutch, too. It comes in black, brown (which I own), and khaki.

This bodycon dress

The short hem of this dress is balanced out by the high neckline.

I love basic pieces that I can dress up or down, like this ribbed dress. I own it in three colors and found the size small to fit snugly without being so tight that I feel like a stuffed sausage, as is the case with a lot of bodycon dresses I try on. I also like the drawstring accents and ruching on the sides and the fact that it doesn’t ride up when I walk, so I’m not constantly pulling at it.

The dress comes in women’s sizes XS to L and in 13 colors.

You can tie the top or wrap it around your waist.

At $19, this dress is a Shein “splurge” for me—but it was well worth it. Every time I wear it, I get a ton of compliments. The ditsy floral pattern is as flirty and feminine as the silhouette of the dress itself, which features an off-the-shoulder neckline, sleeve cuffs, a ruffle hem, and a cut-out in the front. There’s also a detachable tie you can wrap around the top at mid-bust or use to cinch the waist, which transforms the look from cleavage-revealing and/or figure-skimming to more conservative and flowy.

Available in six floral prints, it comes in women’s sizes XS to XL, and my size small fits as expected.

These trendy slides

These sandals were an impulse buy, but a good one.

I was very skeptical when I ordered these sandals, as they were the first pair of shoes I’d tried from Shein. But I fell in love the minute I slipped them on.

In size 8.5 (what I usually wear), they’re snug enough on my foot that I don’t worry about them slipping off, and they don’t rub or chafe against my skin. I like that I can wear them for almost any occasion and, while they don’t have a lot of arch support, they have adequate sole cushioning that they’re comfortable to walk in for hours. They come in women’s whole and half sizes 5 to 11 and in both leopard print and snakeskin.

These stud earrings

Despite how cheap these are, I haven't experienced any itching on my ears.

I lose earrings all the time, so I’m not one to spend a ton on expensive jewelry. As such, I buy most of mine from Shein because it’s cheap with a capital “C.”

I’ve ordered this pack of 12 pairs of stud earrings three times now—proof that I really do lose all my earrings—and even though they aren’t real gold or silver, they don’t irritate my ears at all. I wear them all day, every day.

This one-shoulder sports bra

This is one of my favorite sports bras to wear to the gym.

I love one-shoulder anything, so it’s not a surprise that I gravitated toward this sports bra. I wear a 34C bra and the size small fits me well. I like that it comes with removable liner pads (no embarrassing nipple appearances) and that it provides enough support for power walking, weight lifting, and hot yoga—about what you could expect from a workout bra with only one strap.

The trendy cutout design and one-shoulder neckline make me feel like a badass fitness influencer every time I step in the gym. The bra comes in five colors and in women’s sizes S to L.
