Last month, Samsung announced its newest mobile baby: The Samsung Note 3. The new phone is available for preorder now with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. Sprint and US Cellular will soon join the party.

Dr. Raymond Soneira, president of DisplayMate Technologies Corporation, recently acquired one of the devices and put it through a slew of performance trials to determine whether an upgrade from the Galaxy Note 2 is really worthwhile.

We took a look at Dr. Ray's test results and found that the Note 3 bests its predecessor at every turn. Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 offers:

• More than double the resolution of the Note 2 (1920x1080 vs 1280x720) • The brightest mobile display Dr. Soneira has tested to date • Impressive color modes • Low screen reflectance • Improved power efficiency.

For an in-depth look at these performance aspects, see Dr. Soneira's full article.
