May 8, 2007 – Underwater product manufacturer Fantasea this month announced new housing cases for the Nikon D40 and D40x DSLRs and the Coolpix L10 and L11 point-and-shoots. The new cases allow for aquatic photography up to 200 feet below water. The cases will be available at the end of the month.

The Fantasea FD-40x Waterproof Housing has water-tight gasket seals and polycarbonate button knobs that operate the power switch, control the shutter, exposure, mode dial and menus, and more. The company also offers a flash strobe accessory. The FD-40x will retail for $1,099, $300 more than the D40x kit.

"The Fantasea FD-40x is more than just an underwater camera housing since it provides protection for the D-40/D-40x against damage from rain, snow, dust, sand and dirt," stated a company press release. "It is a valuable tool for many commercial, industrial, and medical applications, because it is resistant to most liquids and sprays."

Fantasea also launched the FL-10 and FL-11 housing for the Nikon Coolpix L10 and L11 digital cameras. At a retail price of $200, the new Coolpix camera housings promise full access to all the cameras' functions. The FL-10 and FL-11 have Double O-ring brass controls and anti-glare hoods for the LCD monitor.

All of Fantasea’s products come with flood insurance. In the case of water leakage, the company will replace the camera. Fantasea also plans to introduce underwater housing for the Coolpix P5000.
