Las Vegas, Nevada, March 11, 2007 – Called the "Next E-Pro Concept," Olympus displayed a mock-up of their upcoming flagship DSLR model at PMA. Kept under glass, the camera will be the anticipated successor to the EVOLT-E1. Even though the U.S. representatives at PMA remained tight-lipped on details, the future DSLR will borrow features from its predecessor while adding the Live View feature and should launch this year, according to an Olympus Global press release.

"The eagerly anticipated successor to the revolutionary E-1 designed for professional use and destined to take over as the flagship of the Olympus lineup, will make its debut this year," stated the release.

As the successor camera to the high-end DSLR EVOLT-E1, the future flagship still lacks a name. The E-Pro concept was first discussed and reported at Photokina 2006. Since then, details have slowly been released by the manufacturer.

The new DSLR will have a Live View LCD screen while maintaining the Dedicated Digital Design and dust reduction system of other EVOLT cameras in the line. The upcoming E-Pro camera will also have mechanical image stabilization with a shifting sensor.

The new EVOLT DSLR promises to take the E-line to "new and unprecedented levels," stated the release.

To supplement the future EVOLT and the recently announced E-510 and E-410 cameras, Olympus will announce four new four-thirds interchangeable lenses and a teleconverter. The following lenses will also be slated for later this year:

Zuiko Digital ED 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 SWD

Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD

Zuiko Digital ED 14-35mm f/2.0 SWD

Zuiko Digital ED 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6

Zuiko Digital ED 20-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Teleconverter
