ACDSee Photo Manager and Pro Photo Manager Version 8.1 Released

*May 3, 2006 – *For photographers who need photo management and editing software, ACD Systems announced upgrades to its software programs. Version 8.1 of ACDSee Photo Manager and Pro Photo Manager improves the processing speed and performance. The Photo Manager software adds more than 50 improvements, while the Pro version focuses on improving speed and RAW format processing. ACDSee Photo Manager sells for $49.99 and the Pro version retails for $129.99. The upgrade is available free to existing customers on the company web site.

"In our continued commitment to our customers, these updates allow them to take full advantage of the powerful capabilities that the RAW format offers," said James Latham, vice president of ACD Systems’ marketing, in the April 27 press release. "Professional photographers depend on the latest RAW format support and feature improvements, while photo enthusiasts are just beginning to discover this format. These releases underscore our commitment to delivering the very best in product integrity and flexibility, and providing feature improvements that make the user experience and workflow both smoother and more enjoyable."

The standard ACDSee Photo Manager software adds RAW file support for the Nikon D50 among its improvements. The Pro Photo Manager adds support for the Nikon D200, Nikon D2H, and Minolta A200. Users will also be able to view all EXIF data from Olympus RAW images, filter .thm files, and keep the metadata in JPEG and TIFF images when they are converted from RAW format.

Both software programs have organizational tools like categories, folders, viewing browsers, and a search program. Pictures can be touched up or played in slide shows, complete with customized background music. DVDs and CDs can also be burned from the ACDSee software programs.
