March 27, 2008* – Adobe has launched a public beta of Photoshop Express, its new photo storage and editing program. The free system allows users to store up to 2GB of images and edit them with a number of Photoshop’s most popular image editing tools.

'Photoshop is trusted technology that has changed the visual landscape of our world. Now, Photoshop Express allows anyone who snaps a digital photo to easily achieve the high-impact results for which Adobe is known,' said Doug Mack, vice president of Consumer and Hosted Solutions at Adobe.

Users can upload images to the software and use editing tools to remove red-eye and blemishes, convert images to black and white, or resize and crop images. Effects like Pop Color allow users to swap chosen colors and mute the background, making a certain part of the photo "pop." The popular Sketch effect makes images look like drawings, and the Distort effect allows users to create artistic effects by distorting portions of the image. The selection of image editing tools is more limited than the full version of Photoshop (or even the cheaper Photoshop Elements). however, the selection of tools on offer in Photoshop Express are adequate for basic editing.

Photoshop Express also has slide show options and provides users with their own online gallery, hosted by Adobe.  Photos hosted on the service can also be used on blogs or social networking sites such as Facebook.

The software’s functionality will continue to develop as Adobe receives feedback from Photoshop Express Users. For more information or to download Photoshop Express, visit Adobe’s website.
