*February 9, 2006 – *Canon, the imaging, printing and copying conglomerate, has announced the acquisition of Uinta Business Systems, Inc. Purchase of the Utah-based company includes Uinta Document Systems Inc., which specializes in solutions, services and supplies for content capture, document management, printing and copier hardware; and Uinta Information Solutions, Inc., which offers customization of software and solutions for information technology systems.

As part of the acquisition agreement Uinta’s president and founder Joe Weiss will retain his position and autonomy over day to day operations. Uinta employs 80 people with offices in both Salt Lake City, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada.

This venture now gives Canon U.S.A., headquartered in Lake Success, N.Y., a presence in the western United States.
