June 26, 2006 – *Today, Casio announced the release of the Exilim Card EX-S600D in Europe. The 6.0 megapixel entry level camera now includes DivX movie capture and is retailed at €259 plus 16 percent VAT (equivalent to $326 plus tax).

'The new EX-S600D has all the features of the EX-S600, but it can take movies in the DivX® format,' says today's Casio Europe press release. The video compression feature, DivX, can produce high quality movies in reduced file sizes and can be saved onto CD-R and DVD-R without file format conversion. Users can then produce movies to share with friends and family on any DivX-compatible DVD player.

The Exilim EX-S600D inherits many of the core components found in its predecessor, the EX-S600, released this past October, including a 6.0 megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom lens, 2.2-inch LCD, and anti-shake DSP. The EX-S600 is retailed at $349.99 USD (€277).

No intentions for a US release have been disclosed. 'The new model will be sold primarily online in Europe,' says the release.
