June 22, 2006 – Casio Electronics Co. Ltd announced today the release of the Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z70 in the UK and Ireland. The 7.2 megapixel point-and-shoot camera will retail for £229.99 ($420). The EX-Z70 is offered in two colors and will be available this summer: black will be available in July and silver in August.
"The overall design is a perfect blend of fashion and functionality," according to today’s Casio press release. Like other point-and-shoot Casio models, the EX-Z70 is made of a lightweight aluminum body and geared towards beginning photographers. The Exilim EX-Z70 features Casio’s "Easy Mode" menu and 33 Best Shot modes.
The new 7.2 megapixel EX-Z70 features higher resolution over its predecessor, the 6.0 megapixel EX-Z60 released earlier this year. Both cameras have a 2.5-inch LCD, 3x optical zoom, and anti-shake digital signal processing (DSP).
Casio representatives have indicated that the camera will be available in the US, but pricing and availability has not yet been determined.
